Boise State Inside Slant
Boise State completed its third undefeated regular season in five years with a 61-10 beatdown of Fresno State on Friday.
However, the Broncos' perfect regular season likely won't be enough to get them into the Bowl Championship Series for the second time. Instead, the No. 9 Broncos likely will play No. 11 TCU in the Poinsettia Bowl on Dec. 23 in San Diego. The Broncos were dominant throughout the season. They only trailed three times, they led every moment of every second half and they led every opponent by at least 17 points at some point. The defense allowed just 67 points in eight WAC games -- and would have set a league record if not for four interception returns for touchdowns allowed by the offense. Boise State coach Chris Petersen avoided BCS talk all season and, despite a 35-3 record in three seasons, refused to stump for his team. "We didn't set out for a BCS game," Petersen said. "That wasn't it. Our deal was to finish every game, play as hard as we can and win the WAC championship and good things will happen to us. And they will." SEASON RECAP: Boise State 49, Idaho State 7 -- QB Kellen Moore was 14 of 19 for 274 yards and two touchdowns in his debut.
