How did the off season go for the Badgers? You think your team will do good this year?

great, now w/ penn st and illinois off the schedual...and horrible non-con...no matter how many wins this schedual produces, it will be criticized for it's obvious lack of strength

Big Ten. It's time to dump two non-conf games and go to a TEN GAME CONF SCHEDULE.

my bad i dont know how that happened, i was trying to post that under a story about a playoff system

but please, any thoughts?

chzeheadfever7894
3/4/2009
4:04 PM

WOW! I FIND THIS VERY EXCITING AND INTERESTING BECAUSE IT IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE SYSTEM I CAME UP WITH A FEW MONTHS AGO! NO LIE!

i support this system 100% but just for fun i will list some main points of my own system that i devised somewhere between december and january...

-- Each of the 6 Power Conference winners who played .667 ball (example: an 8-4 team) would receive an automatic bid to one of the 5 Major Bowls

-- The Major Bowl games include the Rose, Orange, Sugar, Fiesta, and Cotton Bowls.

-- Pac-10 winner vs Big Ten winner in the Rose Bowl;; ACC winner vs Big East winner in the Orange Bowl;; Big 12 winner vs At-Large team in the Fiesta Bowl;; SEC winner vs At-Large team in the Sugar Bowl;; and At-Large vs At-Large in the Cotton Bowl

-- The 5 winners of each of the 5 Major Bowls would then receive an automatic bid into the 8-Team Playoff

-- The final 3 spots for the 8-Team Playoff would be filled by either losers of any of the Major Bowl games or by winners of any of the 7 Second Tier Bowls or AKA the Minor Bowls.

-- The Second Tier Bowl Games include the Sun, Chik-fil-A, Capital One, Liberty, Gator, Outback, and Independence Bowls

-- AP voters, USAToday/ESPN voters, and all D-1A coaches would vote for those final 3 spots

-- The 8 teams would then be seeded and would play off to determine a true and final champion.

any thoughts on my system and any chance it would pass if I sent it in?

----------------------------

this is what i posted a few days ago on this system. i received a little feedback but would like more. if you could please tell me what you think, id really appreciate it!

also: i see a lot of posts here about whether there should be mandated nonconference scheduling that is a much tougher system than what it currently is. i absolutely agree with these posters

schools typically play 5 nonconference games, i think you could have every team play 2 games vs a power conference team; and then 2 games vs a non-power conference team. then the 5th game would be the schools choice, either D1-A or D1-AA or whoever

and about the money, i think you would have more opportunities for money-making with this, because there are simply more games to be played. and that means more sponsorship deals with big companies

not bad, i think it is a step up from last year's nonconference schedule. in-conference games are not bad, toughest is @ohiost

once we begin to regain some of our late90s dominance then it is time to schedule a really tough nonconference game, like against a team from one of the 6 major conferences who is consistently good each year. it will put the team to the test and hopefully get them back to where we would all like to see them- in the rose bowl, or maybe even better

oh hey look it's next year's schedule!

not to be negative, but badgers really need help. beilema is wearing thin on me, as he is supposed to be a defensive-minded coach yet our defense is poor. you do have to put some blame on the players, but i wish our defense would improve. our offense could use a few more recruits. recruiting is moreso on bielema.

her's to just hopin we become rose bowl competitive again. once we do, its time to schedule stronger out-of-conference games rather than cal poly and teams like that...

Owen Daniels was fun to watch at Camp Randall.
Did you notice the comments below? I guess when SEC folks want to talk football they know where the fans are most knowledgeable.

How great is it to watch Owen Daniels catch a TD pass in the Pro Bowl.

well the sad answer to that question flomp is, the SEC is a proud tough old conference that pretty much dominates them all. dont be sad. you,ve got the past, weve got tomorrow, lets make it last, lets find a way.

anyone else notice Jim Leonard out there kicking azz for the Baltimore Ravens ? It was nice to see a Wisconsin boy out there making plays amid some of the best defensive players in the league.

well, it's hard to call alot of pass plays when you're dealing with a subpar QB and recieving crew.....not to mention a line is clearly alot better at pushing than they are at trying to stop people from running around them.

well, at least the expectations will be lower next year. hopfully someone steps up and makes a name for themself......even if that seems like a sure way to end up hurt on this team.

janitor it is plain and simple you have to call pass plays in order to complete in CFB. That was a pitiful display of offense by the Badgers. Barry should have stepped in and said move over son I'm gonna call plays after the half!
